Guidelines

The following guidelines will be used to select our hosts. Thank you for considering us for special recognition at your show.

The OBA authorizes one Oberhasli Specialty per year, per ADGA district. District Specialties can be applied for by an individual or club within a district. * Under special circumstances, two Specialties may be awarded. It is suggested that the shows be at least 350 miles apart but must be at least 6 days apart.

Shows wishing to hold a District Specialty cannot be restricted in any way. The show must be open to all breeders in the district as well as adjacent districts. Any money or prizes offered by the club, state or local authority must be paid to any winner regardless of where they reside.

An application fee of $50 is required. $25 will be refunded to the host club as soon as the Specialty results and required photos are received by the OBA Specialty Chairman, (no digital disk please). $25 will be retained to help defray program expenses. For the separate Buck Specialty, the fee will be $20 with $10 refunded when the required materials are received.
Make checks payable to Oberhasli Breeders of America.

The Oberhasli Breeders of America will provide awards for the Grand, Reserve Grand and Best of Breed. Also included will be awards for the groups classes.

The host agrees to supply a list of class winners to OBA as soon as possible after completion of the show but no later than 60 days for the $25 refund. Pictures (3x5 or 4x6) of the Specialty GCH’s RGCH’s, BOB’s and the Group class winners are required. Winners (group winners as space allows) will be published in the OBA’s newsletter in a timely manner and displayed at our website http://oberhasli.net They MAY also be sent to the Special breed issue of t he United Caprine News and Dairy Goat Journal. Photos become part of the OBA archives and will not be returned.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTING A SPECIALTY SITE
Normally the first club to apply gets the Specialty for that District unless:
  • 1. The same show hosted the Specialty the past year.
  • 2. The show is in the same state of a multi-state district as the past year.
  • 3. The show offers only two sanctioning versus a show offering three, or a combined Jr./Sr. show instead of separately sanctioned.
  • If the district had several applications the prior year, those shows that did not get the Specialty, will be offered first chance to host the Specialty the following year. A new application is required for each year. Checks must accompany the application.

If the selected host does not offer bucks, that Buck Specialty will be offered to other applicants.

Selected host will be notified as soon as possible on or before January 1.

Applications will be accepted from October 1 thru December 31 for the shows the following year.
